Engadget reports that Microsoft is going to keep supporting Windows XP till 2014. This means security patches and some updates. I’m very happy to hear this since I pretty much refuse to move to Windows Vista, probably until World of Warcraft or some other game I really want to play requires it.
I think I would have been more interested in Vista if they had kept in the upgraded file system, that was basically more like a database of your files. We use a document management system at work, and I really kind of like being able to tag files with meta-data and use the search forms to find what I’m looking for. I’m hoping the next Microsoft Operating System, Windows 7, will have those features, though I’m not holding my breath.
Before you start saying I should use a Mac, I really have to admit, I’ve never been fond of that interface. Maybe I spent too much time using Windows machines, but I always find myself stumbling around and frustrated when I use a Mac. I really don’t see why people join the cult of Jobs, but, hey, to each his own.
Plus, I really want to play games. Which means I’d have to dual-boot anyway.
