Star Wars Weekends, Weekend 4 Report

More Pictures in the Gallery

Neither the soot filled skies of Mustafar (really a Florida brushfire a few miles away) or the torrential storms of Kamino (really Florida rainstorms) could keep the fans away from the last weekend of Star Wars Weekends at the Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida.

This weekend featured a Fett-Fete, as Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett of the original trilogy) and Temuera Morrison (Jango Fett of Episode II, as well as a multitude of clonetroopers) brought bountiful smiles to the fans waiting to see them. They joined Warwick Davis (Wicket, Wald, Weasel) on stage for the Stars of the Saga interview show. You can find some video clips from the show out on YouTube, in my Star Wars Weekends Playlist.
Saddened are we all that Star Wars Weekends had to end this year. This was easily the BEST Star Wars Weekends to date. Warwick Davis truly proved that he is a Jedi Master of Ceremonies, as he brought his wonderful sense of humor and incredible talent to the event. I really hope Warwick comes back next year as I think he added a tremendous amount to the enjoyment of everyone involved, the celebrities, the fans, and the crew. Watching him rush from “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire: Play It!” to the motorcade, to the Stars of the Saga show, to the autograph signings, to the Tatooine Trivia Trials, all with his ever-present warm smile present, really made me appreciate how hard he works, and how much he enjoys entertaining the fans. I look forward to my next opportunity to see him perform. (“Willow” TV series anyone?)

I also have to once again say what an incredible job the team over at Disney-MGM Studios theme park does. Each year, the event has gotten better and better, and they deserve a big round of applause for making the event truly Star Wars BIG!

If you’ve never been to Star Wars Weekends, I really recommend you get to Florida for it. It’s truly the closest you can get to stepping into the Star Wars galaxy and partying with the folks there.
