Eventually, after the quest that was bugged earlier was fixed, you get the “so you see, Joe” scene where some handy druids show up to explain exactly what’s going on. Better. Still confusing. But at least I have motivation now. I’m half-human, half-Worgen, and the druids are helping all of us contain our bestial side so we can fight the bad guys smartly. Cue the theme from The Hulk.

The art style is kind of gothically kewl. Lots of fancy-dressing and top hats. Made me chuckle happily when one of the quests I did gave me a top hat. Totally worthless from a game perspective, but at least now I look like all the other citizens of Gilneas.

Speaking of totally worthless from a game perspective, there’s a lot of complaining in chat about the whole ability Worgen have to transform. You see, you get to choose your Worgen form, but not your human form, so you swap into this random human form selected for you when you hit the transform button. Being a roleplayer, I kind of like the rp aspects of this, but I’d rather see the transform have a purpose. Maybe not the, “Oh, no, I have to transform or they’ll attack me” kind of thing. But it might be fun to have some quests where you have to change form.

On the Goblin side of things, I tried to heal my first instance as a Shaman. Total disaster. Um….I have one healing spell. And I didn’t spec Restoration. Not that the six or so talent points I had when I tried to do it would have helped. I’m thinking next time I use the Dungeon Finder, I’ll only tick DPS.

For those who don’t know, two-factor authentication means you have to provide two items to prove who you are to, for instance, the Internet site you are trying to log in to. In the case of an authenticator like this one, you provide both your password, chosen by you, and the random code provided by the authenticator, to log in. Since each code generated by the authenticator is unique each time it it used, someone who wanted to sneak into your account would have to actually have the authenticator in their possession AND know your password.

Authenticators like this are a really good idea, when used properly by the companies that implement them. I hope to see a lot more banks and credit card companies offering this kind of authentication in the future.

I know people who have had their accounts hacked, so I think getting one of these is really a great idea.

Bejeweled in WoW. Well, looks like flight time no longer means I can hit the restroom. I’m going to need a bucket….

Hey, WoW players are hot, if I do say so myself

This ones for all my single friends who play World of Warcraft. Discovered the other day that there is a dating site for World of Warcraft players — datecraft.com. I know, I know. You’re picturing pasty white goth chicks who have known more twinkies than other human beings. But, at least with the cursory look I gave it, the chicks on the site seemed fairly hot.

If you ask me, WoW girlz appear to be the sexiest gamers I have seen. Of course, I didn’t grow up with ready access to the Internet, so I have no clue about just how true the pictures on Internet dating sites might be. I had to meet people in person. Oy!

And hey, I mean, at least you might find someone to play the game with…

I really like the looks of the zones in this new expansion. They’re much more earthly (Azerothly?) than the last set, which were pretty sci-fi.

I’m thinking we should be getting the expansion in hand right around BlizzCon time, since it seems like the information is pouring out….

Interesting to me is that in the lore section (I’m a story nerd…so I actually skip the stats and go straight to the story), they actually mention the Death Knights from the newest WoW novels, which are orc spirits which have been given a comfy home inside raised human bodies. Odd thought, that I could create a gnome Death Knight (and I will, just to annoy people), and then role play the character as an angst-ridden orc spirit who was trapped in this tiny, puny body. GRRRRR!

And yes, they’re adding achievements to the game. Really, it’s just to give you a pretty screen to stare at and go, “Yep, I really DID kill Hogger!” Or, “I really did visit all those areas on the map.” Um, woo hoo.

Still, ther are supposed to be some fun achievements that will get you some kind of minor rewards like pets and such, so, yeah, I will probably be doing them.

If I sound a little sarcastic about them, it’s because I still remember in Star Wars Galaxies, visiting all the Points on Interest I could find, in the hopes of being able to unlock a Jedi character. That whole system was soooo stupid! That said, I think I was soooo close to unlocking a Jedi.
